FOCUS — Make every design review end with a recorded decision. Updated 22 October 2026 A planning meeting should leave a small set of approved items and a visible list of unresolved questions. This makes a store layout easier to revise and prevents later production work from relying on assumptions hidden in a concept image. DECISIONS Operating brief Merchandise, staffing, trade handling, opening target and intended play use. Identify the version of the brief used for the design. Layout and fixture selection Locations, quantities, service positions and the occupied operating plan. Record what has been checked on site and what is still provisional. Release information Approved drawings, sample decisions, interfaces and commercial scope. Identify who can approve the next stage and any excluded local work. REVIEW SEQUENCE 1. Name the site-plan revision and attach the photographs used to understand it. 2. Choose one busy-day scenario and test it with fixtures, occupied chairs and door openings shown. 3. Mark decisions as approved, pending information or excluded; assign a responsible person to each pending item. 4. Send the same decision record with the next design revision so a changed finish is not confused with a changed operating layout.
