FOCUS — Calculate usable positions only after the trial row works. Updated 22 October 2026 A slab count is meaningful only when it names the sample holder, orientation, spacing and display opening used. A calculation is a planning aid rather than an approved cabinet capacity. Real brackets, lighting and door arrangements can reduce the available space. DECISIONS Clear width Measure between the actual restrictions, after end clearance is reserved. Do not use the outside cabinet width in a row calculation. Holder and gap Use the largest approved sample width plus the proposed gap. Check protective sleeves, price labels and angled presentation. Rows and retrieval Count only rows that pass visibility and removal checks. Confirm the hardest position, not only the first card. REVIEW SEQUENCE 1. Write the exact sample reference and orientation beside the layout. 2. For a simple repeated row, estimate positions as floor((usable width + gap) / (holder width + gap)). This formula assumes the reserved end clearance has already been removed. 3. Build the complete sample row and test label visibility, reflections and removal. 4. Repeat for every usable row and sum only those that pass the checks. Do not advertise the result as universal PSA, BGS or CGC compatibility.
