FOCUS — Check the holder, label and retrieval path together. Updated 22 October 2026 A cabinet may physically contain a slab while still hiding its grading label or making the rear row difficult to retrieve. Treat fit as a repeatable sample exercise. Grading-company names describe the samples being checked and do not imply endorsement or universal compatibility. DECISIONS Holder envelope Measure the sample outside width, height and thickness, including protective sleeves. Keep separate entries for every materially different holder. Display opening Measure clear space after trims, brackets, supports and shelf lips. Check the label from the customer viewing position. Removal envelope Open the door and remove the most difficult holder. Include the hand or tray movement, not only the stationary slab. REVIEW SEQUENCE 1. Label each sample and its intended upright or angled orientation. 2. Arrange a full trial row with the proposed holders, gaps and price labels. 3. Photograph front and side views under the intended lighting; record reflections that obscure labels. 4. Retrieve and return the last holder while another staff task is in progress. Confirm where the removed item is temporarily placed.
